The “Western RPG” genre has not evolved since fucking Diablo. The only thing that changed is visuals, and even then, the aesthetic is still fucking bland and the animations are subpar (in fact, they were better in Diablo). The story is, again, the same goddamned thing (You are a noble warrior! Go get me this chest in that dungeon!). And don’t get me started on the game mechanics. I died four times in a row fighting against 3 dudes at a time, because I was somehow supposed to have mastered all my macros 3 hours into the game.

Yes, I still prefer JRPGs, even though these didn’t really change either in the past 20 years. At least the best ones are story driven, and they sometimes come up with something else than “Big Bad Evil we fought 500 years ago is coming back with his evil spawn!”.

Now I’ll go wash all of this bad taste with a shot of Uncharted, thank you very much.
